613 Avenue Create Challenge

Happy Sunday

This time over at 613 Avenue Create the theme is as always Anything goes, the optional twist is Doodling and/or Zentangle

Now I know about Zentangle, as it was a technique I used when teaching art & design to City & Guild students, but I have to confess it was not something I have actually tried myself, so as you can imagine I found this one a bit of a challenge!

I found the outline image in my clip-art files, looked up a few tutorials on-line and this is the result. I must admit I did find it enjoyable.

I used Distress Oxide ink to create the background and distress sprays for the stars. The brick is made with original Distress inks and a stencil. The sentiment is form a MFT stamp set I Knead You

I look forward to seeing your creations on our street

Crafters Cafe Challenge 232

Happy Sunday

This time the theme over at The Crafters Cafe is One Layer or Window

I have gone for the window option on both my cards, and our wonderful sponsors are

My first card uses the Decosse products - Santa Claus is coming to town, Holiday Hoopla & Happy Holidays sentiment

I enlarged the Santa from the paper Santa Claus is coming to town, and the on my computer layered the tartan frame from Holiday Hoopla

I used Spellbinders Flourish Fleur to frame the image and added the sentiment, after cutting out twice with Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles.

Tip
With both the spellbinders dies, neither being a frame die, after cutting and embossing, and before releasing from the die.  I used my craft knife to cut out the centre, on the sentiment I cut it out with the die, and the cut out the red and proceeded as above, this was to give stability to the frame.

My next card uses the beautiful image Winter 10  bu Morgan's Art World

I used Lawn Fawn's Snowfall backdrop and framed the image with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Scalloped Rectangle. The sentiment is from MFT's Chill Wishes, and cut out using Simon Says Stamps Nested Banners

I look forward to seeing your creations in our challenge

Now on to the crafty stuff

We have 2 wonderful sponsors and I am working with

My first card uses the image Bethlehem Verse

I used Spellbinders Winter Wonders embossing Folder, and then cut the image/verse using Memory Box's Holly Holiday Frame.

The embellishments are Creative Expressions Star Spray and Filigree Holly. The poinsettia is Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia.

My second card uses the image Big Snowy Tree

This time I went with the optional twist and used Sunny Studios Sweater Vest to create the card base. I used Knit one pearl one embossing folder, by Desire to create the cable knit and the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamps Don We Now Our Ugly Sweater stamp set, cut out with MFT's Skinny strips

613 Avenue Create Challenge Challenge 227

Happy Sunday

This time over at 613 Avenue Create  the optional twist is "Craft Your Stash"

Ok so do you have a tin like this?
Full to the brim of die cuts and bits you intended to use on a project and changed your mind after stamping and/or cutting out

And do you have a pile of backgrounds? Mine is a collection of techniques I wanted to try, but had no project in mind when making them.

So when the twist was "Craft Your Stash" I was a little afraid of this challenge, don't get me wrong I have from time to time dipped into the tin of the pile and used something on a project, but to do this challenge justice I wanted everything to be from my stash.

When MFT first released the stamp sets Knight in Shining Armour and Once Upon a Time, way back in January 2017, I just had to purchase them, and as I wanted to make a Birthday card for my very own Knight in Shining Armour, my wonderful hubby Paul, I felt I just had to order them pronto :-)

When the sets arrived I promptly stamped and coloured many of the images, and then picked out the ones I wanted to use on hubbies card. So the rest of the images ended up in "The Tin"

So here is what was left, along with some Lawn Fawn Clouds, and one of those background techniques I tried but had not used.

Crafters Cafe Challenge

Happy Sunday

Life in our new home is slowly returning to normal, most of the renovations are now done, just waiting for worktops for the kitchen and then it is decorating the whole place.

This time over at The Crafters Cafe  the theme choices was School Related or Tea/Coffee.

One of our wonderful sponsors for this challenge is

My card uses the image - Girl with plaits

I coloured the sweet image with Copic's and cut it out with my Scan N Cut. The background is made using a brick stencil and Distress inks. The cute school supplies, and sentiment are from Gina K Designs - Basket Additions 3, and the blackboard is made from black card stock, that was stamped with white pigment ink and deliberately smudged to give the effect of chalk dust.

Crafters Cafe Challenge

Happy Wednesday

It has been a mighty long time since I posted on here, life sometimes gets in the way of the fun stuff.
Since my last post, we have faced redundancy, finished decorating our large Edwardian home, and then sold up and moved to the country. We have bought a real fixer upper, with lots of building work going on over the next few months, but we are always up for a challenge :-)

These are some of my new neighbours

Yes the village is famous for the geese who roam free, but don't worry they have a safe harbour at night in the barn behind the pub.

Today I want to share with you my latest DT project for The Crafters Cafe
The theme this time is Shaker  Card or Tag   OR   I spy with my little eye something beginning with M

One of our fabulous sponsors for this challenge is

I worked with the image #950 Boat 1

As you can see I went with the shaker card option.

I coloured the image with Copic's and, used Lawn Fawn's Rain or Shine Before & After for the background. I then used some aqua coloured candle sand for the shaker part. The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled A long time ago.
