Happy Friday

On Monday the lovely Donna over at STV set us a CAS sketch challenge below is the sketch and my entry.

As you can see CAS is not easy for me!

The stamp set is A Very Merry Christmas by the talented Theresa Momber. I coloured using Copic markers, and inked with Memento Cantaloupe and New Sprout, while still in the dies.

The spellbinders used were Petite ovals small - S4-140, Petite scalloped ovals small - S4-141 and Tag shapes 3 - S4-030. The holly is cut using Memory Box - Holly Vine, and I added some red pearls for berries.

Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by

Copying Gina with a Jenny Twist!

Happy Wednesday

On Tuesday the amazing Gina K posted this wonderful video, the card in question uses the lovely new STV kit Wishing you Joy, and a heat embossing technique. Previously the talented Jennie Harper posted on FB about a gold ink by Tsukineko and how she had achieved the "embossed look" without embossing!

Well after seeing the card Gina created, it made me think "could I achieve an even simpler version of Gina's Holiday card?

Well the results are below!

Well I think you will agree, it looks like a direct copy!

Instead of using Versamark and embossing powder, all I used was this amazing ink!

As in Gina's Video, where she used the Versamark ink pad, I wiped the golden ink and let it dry.

I used the same embossing folder as Gina for my layers.

The process was repeated for the smaller layer.

The image was again stamped using the golden ink instead of the Versamark.

The end result!

This card is a direct copy of the card on Gina's video, the technique is not. This ink will not stop me using my embossing powders and heat tool, but if you do not have the tools for heat embossing, or you want to save even more time making your cards this Christmas, then perhaps this ink is for you!

I would like to say a huge thank you to Gina K and Jennie Harper for the inspiration for this card!

Stamp TV Challenge, CASE Emily

Happy Tuesday

Last Friday the lovely Cat over at STV posted a competition to "CASE the Design Team" and the chosen Designer is the very talented Emily Giovanni.

The rules of the game are to pick a card from Emily's gallery and change at least two things about it, the card I picked to CASE is Home Is

Ok what did I change?

Firstly I changed the shape of the card to a square, the DP Emily used was (I think) Basic Grey - Dots & Stripes, I used Echo Park - A Walk in the Park. I swapped the images around and where Emily used some stunning felt flowers, I used some paper ones from my stash. Emily also used a button, I have bling! I am not sure which die Emily used, mine is a bit of an oddity it is by Spellbinders, Labels A SE-001, I can not find any reference to it on the net and am assuming it is a very old die design (I picked it up on Ebay months ago).

FB Challenge for November

Hi

Sorry I have been absent for so long, but life, work and bad health have kept me away.

Here is my entry for the FB November Challenge:

The tags are cut using Spellbinders Tag Shapes Three (S4-030). I inked each one up with a ranger foam applicator in each of the new Distress Winter Collection, these colours are just so yummy, they are a wonderful addition to the collection.

After inking I sprayed with homemade perfect pearls gold mist, (recipe below!) I then hit them with a heat tool to dry, this was all done while still in the die.

The Stamp set is from the wonderful Gina K Designs and is called Wishing you Joy and is the current STV Kit, and all the images are coloured with Copic Markers, and Sakura stardust pens.

I cut out the images with Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Circles (S4-115), Labels Three (S4-189) and Labels fourteen (S4-290).

I used some Metallic Rub-on around the edges in a copper colour from kit 1, and then used pop-dots to attach to the tag.

Here is my recipe for glimmer mist using Perfect Pearls and a ranger mister bottle:

It is simply a mister bottle filled with water and a small amount of Perfect Pearls added, shake well and spray. I used gold on my tags, but you can make it any colour. I do advise you add the PP in small quantities and test until you get the result you require.

Thank you for stopping by.
